Professional Chalet Chef

Powder N Shine is an independent, owner-run catered chalet business operating solely in the small Reberty Village, a piste-side collection of properties in the heart of the Three Valleys. Our chalets are located at high altitude (2000m) and are truly ski-in/ski-out. Each of our 4 chalets is run by a team of 3 staff, plus management, who collectively provide a 5* service to our guests who visit Powder N Shine from all over the world and very frequently return.
Job Description
We are looking for highly creative and passionate Professional Chefs to help build on our existing reputation as providers of superior quality food and wine with a commitment to outstanding service. The very best food and wine is a key component of our Powder N Shine offering and has been a factor to maintaining a high number of returning visitors.
With a real focus on quality, we expect our staff to have the same values and dedication to service excellence as we do. As a Chalet Chef, you will be responsible for all food preparation and cooking to include breakfast, afternoon tea and the evening main meal: canapés, 3-course dinner and cheese board.
We also offer our guests with children under a certain age a children’s dinner, which consists of an earlier, simpler meal. You will also be expected to cater for all dietary requirements in the chalet.
Teamwork is hugely important to Powder N Shine and you, along with two Chalet Hosts will be responsible for the daily running of the chalet and delivering outstanding customer service, without exception. All team members of Powder N Shine are considered as front of house. The overall requirement will be to ensure that guests enjoy their fine dining experience and all other aspects of their catered chalet holiday through being as attentive, professional and engaging as possible at all times, in addition to serving superb food.
You must be a team player, enjoy socialising and delivering excellent customer service, have a “can-do attitude” and remain professional at all times. The chalet is an open-kitchen environment, so you must have the social skills to deal with any and every guest.
Skills and Experience Profile
- Recognised catering qualification such as NVQ and City and Guilds Chef Qualification along with extensive kitchen experience. (Level 3+ required)
- Fine dining experience is essential – Michelin star restaurant experience desired
- Excellent social skills to deal with people from all walks of life of all ages and often families with children
- Uncompromising standards of hygiene & professionalism – certification essential

Job Description
The role of Chalet Hosting Couple involves making our guests feel as welcome, comfortable and happy as possible within the chalet during their stay with Powder N Shine. Your commitment to high quality service and ensuring a friendly environment for all guests will be at the forefront of your responsibilities.
The overall requirement will be to ensure that guests have a memorable stay with Powder N Shine through being as attentive, professional and engaging as possible at all times, without exception. You must have huge attention to details in all areas required to run a chalet – cleaning, service, presentation, engagement, pro activity etc.
Specific responsibilities and tasks will include (but are not limited to) the following:
Food service
– Service of breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals
– Assisting the chef in food preparation where appropriate
Cleaning
– Daily cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and communal areas
– Weekly deep clean of all areas mentioned above as well as the garage and spa areas on changeover day (typically Saturdays)
Administration
– Some general administration tasks such as upkeep of honesty bar and petty cash
Maintenance
– Daily maintenance of the jacuzzi and sauna (<10 minutes per day)
– General chalet upkeep such as changing light bulbs etc.

- You will hold a recognised Catering qualification such as NVQ and City and Guilds Chef Qualification along with extensive kitchen experience. (Level 3 required)
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in professional kitchens in fine dining restaurants (ideally to 3 AA rosette standard/1 Michelin Star or equivalent) having held chef de partie or more senior positions

- Uncompromising standards of hygiene and professionalism – HACCP hygiene certificate is a must
- The ability to bring ideas to the menus and also be able to multi task by dealing with different dietary requirements

Resort Manager

Job Description
We are looking for a Resort Manager to work directly with the company owners to assist in the smooth running of the day-to-day operations, and also to ensure that the team of 12 other staff members provide the highest level of service, in line with our company values and to maintain our excellent reputation.
It is an extremely rewarding role and the experience gained by directly working with the company owners will benefit you in all walks of life! It is, however, a very demanding role with lots of responsibility – and therefore not for everyone.
You will help to manage a team of 12 staff members in Reberty Village and your duties will include (but not be restricted to) the following:
- Management of day to day chalet operations including stock control, stores management, snow clearing, deliveries, staff liaison etc.
- Changeover day – welcoming new guests and sending off departing guests. Ensuring the levels of cleanliness in the chalets are at required standards and ensuring staff morale is as high as possible: changeover days are long – for everyone!
- Quality control – monitoring the pre-determined QC measures through regular chalet visits and chalet operations supervision, including monitoring food hygiene on a daily basis
- Taking responsibility for maintenance lists and ensuring the chalets are running correctly
- Responsibility for in resort organisation of extras such as massages, short-notice ski lessons etc.
- Monitoring staff appearance and personal hygiene in line with Company Policy
- Health and Safety visits weekly in all chalets
- (Other) Staff day off – you will be required to go into the chalets in the morning to ensure guests are happy, bins are emptied (where necessary), kitchens tidied (where necessary) and to put afternoon tea out for guests.
Age range:
Over 25 years old for insurance purposes and also if you are younger it is unlikely you will have the experience we are looking for.
What Qualities and Abilities are we looking for?
- Personality – confident, outgoing, strong, people person – you need to provide a friendly, warm and personal but professional service at all times. You will also need to know how to have some fun as well!
- Outstanding organisational skills and team management
- Ability to work independently and to problem solve – following up consistently on any outstanding issues
- Presentable, clean appearance with excellent interpersonal and guest relationship management skills
- Absolute attention to detail and the ability to command the same from other team members
- A passion for delivering excellent customer service
- An excellent timekeeper
Qualifications, experience and achievements
- Hospitality and customer service experience essential in either fine dining restaurants, hotels or other luxury chalet companies
- Full, clean driving licence
- Past experience of managing a hospitality team of at least 6 people
- Exceptional service standards
- Excellent customer service skills with your ability to communicate with all types of guests and team members
- Administration experience required – computer literate
- Previous experience of driving on snow and on the right hand side of the road
- UK National Insurance number essential
- You have skied or snowboarded for a minimum of 3 weeks
- French language skills – written and oral (telephone confidence necessary)
- Life experience!
Customer Service
- Provide the highest level of customer service possible for every guest
- Regularly checking in with guests in the mornings and evenings to ensure they have everything they need and don’t require assistance from you – for example booking more lessons
- Anticipation of guests’ needs and proactively recommend and identify opportunities to enhance guest satisfaction and experience
- Relationships with suppliers and partners are crucially important and you need to ensure you maintain strong relationships
- You need to be highly knowledgeable of Powder N Shine, our service, the area, restaurants and weather at all times
- You need to constantly create a warm and friendly atmosphere from the very beginning of the guests’ stay until the moment they leave (and occasionally beyond!)
