Non-skiing

The Belleville Valley has an abundance on non-skiing activities. If you are coming on a skiing holiday with your family and prefer not to ski, or if you simply are looking for a day off from the slopes then there is something for all.

Activities include:

  • Walking
  • Snowshoeing
  • Tobogganing
  • Swimming
  • Cross -country skiing
  • Fitness centre
  • Bowling
  • Paragliding
  • Dog-sledding
  • Ski-doo
  • Snowmobile

Les Menuires has a great Sports Centre which has many different activities available for the non-skiers amongst you. These activities include squash, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball and more. It is also fantastic for young families and children with access to the Fun Park which has trampolines and bouncy castles.

Within the centre also is the well-being area, which includes a relaxation area, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi area. There are classes for aqua gym, pre-natal classes, adult and baby swimming lessons available.

Treatments available include exfoliations, body massages, waxing, manicures and pedicures. Treatments are open from Monday to Friday, from 10am to 12 noon and from 2pm to 8pm, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 8pm.

Another non-skiing activity available is to explore the shops. Les Menuires, despite it not being the prettiest place in the world, has a good array of shops within a covered shopping mall. Shops range from boutique jewellery and gift shops to clothes shopping for sports and non-sports, delicatessens selling local Savoie cheese, saucissons and other local foods, butchers, magazine shops and much more.

The Belleville Valley is beautiful place, with areas such as the Vallee des Encombres which is simply stunning. With a good pair of grippy walking boots or shoes you are able to explore the local area by foot, there are guided walks available, alternatively if you are feeling more adventurous you can take a guided snowshoeing tour.

In Les Menuires there is a market twice weekly (Wednesday and Sundays). There are many market stalls from local cheeses, sweets, cured meats and you may be able to pick up a bargain on some clothing!

There are plenty of restaurants that non-skiers can reach by foot / ski lift with a pedestrian pass, with breathtaking mountain views. These include Chalet des Neiges at the top of Roc de Trois Marches, Les Roches Blanches at the midway station up La Masse, and Restaurant La Loy up from St Martin de Belleville (if you go here for dinner, you are picked up at 6pm by snowmobile or four-wheel drive!)
