A short walk of 1.5 hours – ideal for families in the Alpages de la Chasse area. A great opportunity to meet the locals who show you how Tomme de Savoie and Tomme de Chevre are made. There is also the opportunity to meet some of the animals which is always a thumbs up for children! At the end of the walk you are invited to try some of the local products.

Again, a short and easy walk through some villages of the Belleville valley. There are some beautiful villages around and they all have their own delights, such as the below bridge in Villaranger.

The Encombres valley, close to Les Menuires has over 700 chamois who run wild all year round. This walk will take a full day, and has some nice climbs where you can hide silently from the chamois and try to spot them in their natural habitat. The views are immense – not to be missed.

This a full day walking and is for those individuals who have a good level of fitness and like to push themselves on long climbs. Depending on conditions, there are a few different options: La pointe de Borgne, 3078m which is in Val Thorens, or l’epaule de Brequin, 3030m close to the Lou lake.

Again, a full days walking in Le Grand Perron des Encombres. This walk is very mountainous and the terrain is not really suitable for children. This walk has an altitude of 2850m and is not for the faint-hearted. There are beautiful animals in the Vanoise National Park, and this particular walk will show you the bouquetins (see below) which live wild in the park.

There are so many walks that it is impossible to write about them all but if you want to see a detailed map of the walking routes in the Belleville valleys, download the walking maps PDF. If you are interested in any of the walks mentioned above, or would like to hear more, please do contact us. Both Francesca and Steve are keen walkers, so we would also be very happy to guide you around the walks ourselves.

It is seriously advised that you bring the appropriate walking equipment such as walking boots or walking shoes and whatever other gear is required for the level of walk that you would like to do.
