Flocon des Neiges Team 2013/14
Ethan Gilbert Bunning – Chalet Host and Childcare
Ethan previously worked alongside George as a Nanny in the Village, and is coming across to us as a Chalet Host. He (like George) will also be on hand for Powder N Shine guests, should they require any childcare during their stay, as an additional service, depending on availability.
Heather Frew – Chalet Host
Heather is a first-timer in terms of working in a ski resort, but is no stranger to combining work with travel, having previously worked in Spain and Australia. She has also got some excellent recent cooking qualifications, having studied Culinary Arts at the prestigious and award-winning Ashburton Cookery School, so she will be pestering Matt for recipes as well as potentially lending a hand in the kitchen.
Matthew Brice – Chalet Chef
Continuing the trend for returners, Matt worked very successfully with Powder N Shine last season, as the Chef in Le Chamois. This year, he is rotating across to Flocon des Neiges and has put his own stamp on his menu for this season, calling upon many influences from his culinary background. Matt’s prior experience includes Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin-starred Petrus (recently voted London’s Best Restaurant on TripAdvisor) and he had the opportunity to cook for an array of the UK’s leading restaurateurs this summer, including former employer Ramsay, Heston Blumenthal, Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti (of Masterchef fame!).
Le Chamois Team 2013/14
Jessica Reeve – Chalet Host and George Palmer – Chalet Host and Childcare
Jess is another returning “Powder N Shiner” from last season and this winter sees the addition of boyfriend George, who has worked in the village as a Nanny for the last two seasons. Since last season, the pair have been actively pursuing their dreams outside of the mountains with Jess developing (no pun intended ) her photography business, including being official photographer at Steve and Francesca’s wedding in September! George has recently successfully completed his Yachtmaster qualifications, giving him yet another string to his bow.
Tom Clarke – Chalet Chef
Another chef who has prior knowledge of the resort, Tom worked last season for one of the family-oriented ski companies in Reberty Village. Prior to this he has excelled in his previous double-Rosette-standard establishments, and has also had the incredible opportunity of working under Heston Blumenthal at his world-famous 3-Michelin-starred flagship restaurant, The Fat Duck in Bray. A young and passionate Chef, Tom is sure to continue in the traditions of previous Powder N Shine
Sapin de Reberty Team 2013/14
Gemma Currie – Chalet Host and Sam Edge – Senior Chalet Host and Resort Operations
Sam and Gemma are returning to Powder N Shine for their second consecutive winter season, having impressed with their professionalism and attitude during the 2012/13 season. In the meantime, they have been travelling the world, stopping in such far flung destinations as Indonesia, New Zealand and South Africa. Poor them!
David Nicolson – Chalet Chef
David is a seasoned seasonnaire, having done winter seasons in Switzerland and spent a lot of time throughout Asia. His broad horizons are reflected in his eclectic menu, which incorporates elements of classical (French) cuisine and more experimental fusion-style dishes from around the world. His résumé boasts such esteemed establishments as The Feathered Nest, Tewinbury Farm and The Regency Park Hotel (all double-AA Rosette standard restaurants in the UK). This season’s guests are greatly enjoying his food and he can count an array of stars amongst people he had cooked for in the past, ranging from Elton John to the Queen (neither at Powder N Shine – yet!!).
